Petrobond
A ready for use moulding sand designed to facilitate the production of high quality aluminium, zinc and cupro-alloy castings. Petrobond sand consists of a fine high purity, silica sand bonded by an organophyllic clay in the presence of oil iron oxide and a polar agent.
Health & Safety Information
- Fire & Explosive Data
Non-explosive. Smoke is evolved when in contact with molten metal but product is non-flammable.
- Inhalation
Product is supplied dust free. The pouring of molten metal into Petrobond sand moulds
should be carried out in a well ventilated area as some smoke will be evolve from the hot sand emanating from the metal/mould interface.
- Eyes
Protection is not normally necessary. If sand enters the eyes irrigate with copious amounts of cool water. If irritation persists seek medical advice.
- Ingestion
Non-toxic, non-corrosive, no special precautions necessary.
- Skin Contact
Product generally non-irritating. However, personnel with hyper-sensitive skin are advised to wear industrial gloves to avoid skin contact. Petrobond can be removed by washing with soap and water.
- Handling & Storage
Store in a cool, dry place. Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene. Remove spillage by dry methods. Disposal practice should be as for foundry sand.
